I remember the day so clearly - exactly how it happened.
I remember clicking off the phone call with my coach, with this new incredible energy after declaring my epiphany that today was THE day I was going to go get a dog. It was just going to happen.
I had been toying with the idea of getting a dog for a while - it was something I really wanted in my life ... who wouldn't!? Puppies are pure CUTENESS!
My boyfriend and I had made a mutual agreement that in order to fit our lifestyle, need for cuddly cuteness, and tiny apartment, that the only breed that would work for us would be a Toy Australian Shepherd. GREAT! Because that's what I had really wanted in the first place. Now, if you know about Australian shepherds, they come in various colors. The one I really wanted was the red merle with blue eyes...but would've totally settled for a different colored pooch of the same breed.
So, I clicked off the phone, and immediately typed into my Google search engine on my MacBook Pro "pet stores pittsburgh" and clicked the first option that popped up, went directly to the pictures of the pets, and there he was. His cute little fluffness (he was probably only about 5 weeks old at the time the photo was taken) and bright blue eyes. I immediately called the store, and asked if they still had him!
The woman on the other end of the line asked me if I had been there last night. When I said "no...," she replied that she thought I was in last night because a mother and daughter had come in and she thought they were going to come back and buy him today. Before she finished her sentence, I practically yelled, "I'LL BE THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - I'M LEAVING NOW!" at her, which I think probably freaked her out a bit, as would be expected.
So i jumped in my car, drove the 25 minute drive to the pet store, and zipped over to the little babe. When I held him in the little puppy area, it was game over. He was mine. All mine. There was nothing anyone could say to make me change my mind.
When the pet store employee told me his price, my eyes nearly popped out of my head. Who knew pure bred dogs were so expensive?!?! (Apparently everyone but me) -- Needless to say, I financed the dog and put about 1/3 of the payment down.
I'm sure this seems absolutely crazy - to finance a dog - to most people. But if you've ever had a dog, you know that these little lovers add so much value to your life that you can't really put a number on it (even though the pet stores do). I brought him home, unbeknownst to my boyfriend (he found out later that evening when he got home from work), and we've been a happy little family ever since.
The reason I share this story with you is to exemplify the power of our intentions.
My intention was to bring home a dog, no matter what. The fact that I had previously gotten SO crystal clear on exactly the dog I wanted was also key here. And since I held that intention so strongly, I was able to creatively problem solve where I needed to in order to bring the intention to manifestation.
I've also applied the same Law of Attraction technique to manifest a free trip to Mexico with my boyfriend. I ended up winning a sales competition at my previous job by holding the intention of winning, envisioning what it would feel like to be sitting on the beach, sipping pina coladas, gazing out at the beautiful blue water from my beach chair, and eating the freshest tacos for lunch. I got CLEAR & SPECIFIC on what it was that I wanted. I BELIEVED that I could do it. I was OPEN to receiving support and guidance. And guess what!? IT WORKED! I won the trip and it was 100% all expenses included (flights, meals, all-inclusive hotel package, etc.). I ended up winning the trip within my first 3 months of work in a job that I hadn't been previously trained to do, selling advertisement space in local magazine publications. I was a Psychology major, fresh out of college. Logically, it didn't make sense. Through the frame of "faith," it was totally justified.
The same thing happened again when I decided it was time for me to leave my full-time job and fully step into my role as a full-time life coach. I chose a date that would be my last day, and within 24 hours of declaring this date, I had 2 huge promotional opportunities, an intern, 2 part-time job offers, 2 nannying gigs, and pretty much everything else I had needed to feel safe leaving. In fact, I ended up doing so 2 weeks early!
The point here is that no matter how impossible something may seem, as long as we hold the intention and believe that we're being supported in our efforts to move toward that outcome, the pleasure we gain from the vision itself motivates and fuels us to take the necessary action and do whatever it takes to bring our desired outcome to fruition.
So dream BIG. Don't be afraid of failing -- the universe is conspiring with you when you declare your intention. When you truly hold the intention, stay open, and do the work to get you to where you want to be, dreams come true. Not by just sitting there thinking about the dream, but through taking massive action to get you to that point.
It's the "I'll do whatever it takes" mentality -- NOT the "I guess I'll try it out..." mentality.
Because when you make a CLEAR commitment, you'll get CLEAR results. And when you make a half-assed commitment, you'll most certainly get half-assed results.
So today, I want to invite you to write down your vision. What does your perfect result look like? Get detailed and clear. Share it with me in the comments so that I can hold that vision for you as well, and together, we're infinitely more powerful!
Love & Light,
P.S. If you're into this idea of manifesting a vision, I'll be collaborating with Suzanne Nagel at Yoga Flow in Pittsburgh, PA for an "Empowered Flow" Workshop on Friday Feb 27th! Reserve your space here! We will be focusing on opening the solar plexus chakra (manipura) which is your center of empowerment and creation + teaching you 3 of the most powerful coaching tools to help you clarify, affirm, and create your vision. Hope to see you there to bring your vision into manifestation with us!
